We understand how difficult it can be to lose a loved one, and how heavy the weight of grief can feel. We've put together some helpful resources below, including both personal and group options.

GriefShare

GriefShare is a non-denomination support group offering 13-week programs, as well as special sessions, such as “Loss of a Spouse” meetings. You can attend any, some, or all of the scheduled sessions. GriefShare sessions occur at many churches in our area, including, but not limited to, Fallsington United Methodist Church, Neshaminy United Methodist Church, and Oxford Valley Chapel (non-denominational). Bereavement Support at St. Andrew Church, Newtown

St. Andrew Church in Newtown offers a bereavement support group that meets once a month on Mondays. The program includes bereavement support with discussion on grieving the loss of a loved one, types, and phases of grief. Their goals are to provide a safe, spiritual place to grieve and to recover. This ministry is open to anybody that is mourning a loss. All are welcome regardless of their faith tradition. Currently scheduled meetings include:

Meetings take place at St. Andrew Olde Church, 135 S. Sycamore St, Newtown, PA 18940 from 7:00PM-8:30PM.

VITAS Bereavement Services

VITAS Healthcare support groups provide information and guidance to those experiencing grief and loss. They offer an assortment of phone-in support groups and Zoom video support groups, free of charge, to help meet the needs of caregivers. Offerings include ongoing support groups, as well as a selection of support groups that last for a 6-week or 14-week session. New groups are added often, so make sure to check back if you didn’t find what you were looking for initially.

VITAS Bereavement Services also offers a Facebook Group for those struggling with grief, allowing you to join a community of people experiencing similar feelings.

Additionally, VITAS provides several articles and pages on their website to read and learn more about the grief you are experiencing.


Bucks County Vet Center

Bucks County Vet Center offers bereavement and grief services for veterans of the US Armed Forces. If someone close to you has died or you’re adjusting to a difficult life change, they are here to support you.

Bucks County Vet Center understands that everyone grieves in their own way and in their own time, and are here to provide emotional support during your journey of grief recovery. This support could include grief counseling, bereavement counseling for families who have lost a loved one while serving on active duty, and contact information for the Veterans Benefits Administration and National Cemetery Administration regarding possible burial and survivor benefits. Their main location is 2 Canals End Road, Suite 201B, Bristol, PA 19007.

Center for Loss & Life Transition

The Center for Loss & Life Transition is led by Dr. Alan Wolfelt, who has been recognized as one of North America’s leading death educators, authors and grief counselors. The Center’s website includes many helpful articles, pages, and information to guide you through the process of grief, including but not limited to, the basics of grief and mourning and the feelings that often accompany grief, as well as how to assist others experiencing grief.
