July 23, 1927 - June 21, 2023

William O. Scherch passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Holland Village, Holland, Pa.  He was 95.  Born in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Frank and Sophie Kohler Scherch, he has been a Bristol Township resident for the past 68 years.  Mr. Scherch was a disabled U.S. Navy Veteran, serving as a Seaman Second Class, on the Destroyer, USS John Hood, during WWII and was the recipient of the Purple Heart.  He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and was a skilled wood carver and painter.  Mr. Scherch was very family oriented and enjoyed spending time with his family especially at Disney World.  

He is survived by the light of his life, his wife of 75 years, Catherine (née Quigley) Scherch, 1 son, William D. Scherch and 1 daughter, Catherine Joy Rose and her fiance, Manny Maloney and his former son-in-law, John C. Rose, Jr. along with 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Jerry Scherch, his brother-in-law, Claude Shaner, his daughter-in-law, Patricia Scherch and many nieces and nephews.  He was also predeceased by 2 sons, George Joseph Scherch and Joseph William Scherch, his step-father, Milton Berstler and his siblings, Frank Scherch, Milton and Daniel Berstler, Frances Blizzard, Josephine Fairall, Catherine Wiser and Mary Shaner.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 29, 2023, 11:00am at St. Mark Church, 1025 Radcliffe Street, Bristol, Pa 19007.  Interment, Resurrection Cemetery.  Friends may call Wednesday evening 7-9:00pm and Thursday morning 9:30-10:30am at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mark Church, at the above address or Disabled American Veterans Charity at www.dav.org.
