Shirley Maria Bennett Worthington
Shirley Worthington, of Edgely PA passed away peacefully at her home with her loving husband of 60 years, Kenneth Worthington by her side. She was 84. Born and raised in Croydon, she has been a resident of Edgely for 51 years.
Shirley was born July 3, 1936 to the late Elmer & Sarah Bennett Sr of Croydon. She is preceded in death by her sisters and grandson, Lillian Curry(Edward), Edna Dransfield (James), Dorothy Tuliback (Joseph), Mary Frances Wolfinger (Franklin) and Kenneth Worthington III.
Shirley is survived by her four children whom she loved with all her heart, Kenneth Worthington Jr.(Lisa), Michael Worthington(Amy), Patrick Worthington(Donna), and Robert Worthington. As well as her cherished grandchildren and great- grandchildren, Michael Jr(Monica), Samantha, Victoria(Shawn), Morgan, Rylee, Keily, Tyler, Kylee, Kenny IV, and Michael III. Also, many nieces and nephews.
Shirley graduated from Delhaas High School in 1954 and started working for the Farmers National Bank as a teller until 1961. She spent sometime volunteering for the Easter Seals as a driver, and did pattern work for children in the Croydon area. Shirley thrived as a homemaker and loved raising her children with a “few” of their friends always around. Shirley enjoyed time with her family doing many different activities such as spending time on the river and traveling with the camper. She was always reading a Danielle Steele book. Anyone who knew Shirl, knew that she was always accepting visitors and loved everyone who walked through the door. She will be greatly missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, 11:00am at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough. Interment, Sunset Memorial Park, Feasterville, PA. Friends may call Wednesday morning 9:00-11:00am at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
