Kathryn (Kate) Sottile

March 31, 1967 - November 23, 2024

Kathryn (Kate) Sottile, age 57, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024, in Langhorne, surrounded by family, music, memories and love. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 33 yrs, Derek Sottile, who was the love of her life, her daughter, Heather Sottile, who she loved deeply and unconditionally, her supportive and nurturing parents, Frank and Mary Jo Tiso, her loving sisters, Melissa Tenzer and Cheryl Gollmer who were also her best friends, and Cindy Weinroth who was a sister of her heart. She will be missed by her Aunt Susan Snyder, Aunt Rosemary Tiso Cuskley, Uncle Mark Snyder, her sister-in-law Anita Giampietro brother-in-laws James and Dave Sottile and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Kate graduated from Neshaminy High School and Millersville University. She was an exceptional teacher at Pearl Buck for over 30 years, respected by her colleagues and loved by her students. She always filled her classroom with Snoopy decorations which delighted her pupils. She had a beautiful voice and performed at various venues in Bucks County including the Yardley Inn, The Temperance House, The Washington Crossing Inn, The Continental and many others as Kate and Bob Duo with Bob Thompson on guitar. Her voice was amazing and her performance mesmerizing- her flowing red hair and angelic voice filling the air. You would always find her husband Derek along with her parents and sisters in the audience among her fans. She was an avid Phillies fan and enthusiastically cheered them on through wins and losses. In addition to Phillies games she and Derek enjoyed going to Clearwater in the spring to see her Phils. Her love of music extended to her daughter, Heather and they enjoyed going to concerts together, especially Sheryl Crow. The family loved vacations in New Mexico. The White Sands and horseback riding made it perfect.

Kate's happy place was Long Beach Island. She would spontaneously call her sister, Melissa, and they would drive down to their favorite spot. They would drink Prosecco on the beach, enjoying the warmth of the sun and the waves crashing on to the sand. After a lite lunch at the Engleside they would go to their favorite shop, "How To Live" where the stores motto was: "Please watch out for each other and love and forgive everybody. It's a good life, enjoy it."

Her courageous battle with cancer was inspirational. She was cared for and comforted by her loving husband, Derek supported by her daughter, family and friends. She loved the angel wings displayed on her wall that her husband gave her and now has her own wings.

There are so many memories with music and sleepovers and Phillies games that we shared! Every May Kate would call me to laugh about the Germany choir trip where they paired us up with German cyclists who also knew every question at each checkpoint even the American ones. We didn’t know anything and could barely keep up on the bikes. We laughed so hard trying to get down the last hill. We also sang and performed with moccasins tied onto our heads calling ourselves the “Moccasin Heads “ lol. Till we meet again special friend!

I am extremely saddened to learn of Kate's passing. I got to know her through Derek, a work colleague of mine, and was fortunate to have seen her perform several times. She was talented and gracious, and it was easy to see the special bond between Derek and her. I extend my condolences to the entire family and I will keep all of you in my prayers.
