John P. Tobar

Proudly born July 4, 1927, he peacefully left this world surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. Born in the Kensington section of Philadelphia to the late Nicholas and Theresa Tobar, he was a loving and devoted husband of Agnes M. Tobar, (nee McGarvey) for 69 years. Brother of Anna Diamond (Jack), he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank, and his grandsons, James V. Siesser, Jr. and David J. Field.

Humble, loving and perfect father of 6 children: Agnes Richards (Michael), Veronica - Rocky, Nicholas (Luray), Theresa, John, Jr. (Sandy) and Tina Valeri. Proud and loving Pop-Pop of 12 grandchildren: Jessica Phinn (Todd), Tennille Richards, Gina Haegele (Adam), Nicole Davis (Glenn), Nicholas Tobar, Ashley Sunshine (Brad), Brittney Rowlands, Dylan Valeri, Haley Weiner and Blaise Werts. Great-grandfather of 13: Todd, Jr., Luke, Jason, Payton, Indigo, Ella, Jax, Carter, Astyn, Kaylin, Jared, Callie and Griffin. Special thank you to their wonderful neighbors and close friends, John, Jackie, John, Jr., James and Jordan Russell. He will sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A 1946 graduate of Northeast High School, Philadelphia, he left high school early to enlist in the United States Navy, where he served until August 1946, separating with an Honorable Discharge. He then served in the United States Army as a Corporal from October 1950 - October 1956, separating again with an Honorable Discharge. He proudly served and was dedicated to his country.

A dedicated Philadelphia sports fan, avid golfer, bowler and life of the party. The most dedicated family man we have ever known. Described by many as a really good man, he was adored by all those blessed to know him along with all his family and friends and will be deeply missed by all.

Due to the current COVID-19 restriction, his services will be private under the direction of Wade Funeral Home, Bristol Borough.
