John “Broph” Brophy

June 1, 1952 - February 4, 2024

John “Broph” Brophy passed away on February 4, 2024 at home after a long illness. He was 71.  Born in Philadelphia, son of the late William Brophy and Theresa Sams, he was raised in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, and has most recently resided in Croydon, PA.  Broph was a proud graduate of Northeast Catholic High, Class of 1970, where he developed many lifelong friendships.

He is survived by his wife, Ramona (nee Stahl), his daughter, Brianna Howley (Luke), and his granddaughter and “best girl”, Grace, as well as his sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.  He is also predeceased by his sister, Carol Bach, and his step-father, Richard Sams.

Broph was a huge fan of Philadelphia sports and could often be found outside in the summer listening to a Phillies game on the radio doing a crossword puzzle. He enjoyed many summers at the Jersey shore with his friends and family.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Thursday, February 8, 2024, 11:30am at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough. Friends may visit with John’s family from 9:30 until time of service. Interment will follow at St. Mark Church Columbarium, Bristol Borough.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Norphans Scholarship Fund (https://www.norphans.org/support-us) which benefits the descendants of North Catholic Alumni.
