George J. Doran, Jr.

March 26, 1955 - October 5, 2023

George J. Doran, Jr. ended his struggles here on earth on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Lower Bucks Hospital.  He was 68.  Born in Bristol, Pa., he was a Bristol resident all his life.  George retired from 3M Co., where he was a Master Mechanic.  Some things that brought him joy in life are photography, hunting, fishing, snorkeling, collecting antiques, the stock market, current events, talk radio, sci-fi, and volunteering as a committee man for his community.  He liked playing cards and baseball with his friends. His greatest job was volunteering at his kids school, and for their sports.

George was a selfless man, always the first to offer a helping hand, whether it be fixing your car or something around your house. Until his wisdom and advice were all that he could lend.  Everyone that knew George knew that although what he said sounded crazy, HE WAS ALWAYS RIGHT. No memory of George is complete without his Big Gulp of Diet Coke.

He was the loving husband of Ida Conti Doran, a devoted father to, Amanda Cook (Jason), Kristy Reardon (Daniel) and George J. Doran III (Trisha) and the best Poppy to his grandchildren, David, Hayden, Dani, Avery, Quinn and Grayson.  George is also survived by his mother, Dolores Doran, his siblings, Bernadette Mena (Martin), Owen Doran (Cindy), Lori Cleary (Kevin), Patrick Doran (Jeannie) and Kathleen O'Toole (Mike), his sister-in-law, Kathy Doran along with many special nieces and nephews.  He was greeted at the gates of Heaven by his father, George J. Doran, Sr. and his brothers, Michael Doran, Joseph Doran and Daniel Doran.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, 11:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Croydon, Pa.  Interment, private.  Friends may call Wednesday morning 9:30-11:00am at the Church.  Arrangements are under the direction of Wade Funeral Home, Bristol Borough.

Such a kind man. He truly was the most selfless person I have come across. He was just working on a house project, and stopped the minute Kristy called to tell him I needed my tire plugged. Truly one of the best men to ever walk this earth 🤍

You were so happy to finally get back to the lake you used to spend time at with your family. You were so happy to be able to move your body in ways you couldn’t for years. It was the first time in a while we got to see you truly happy. You got to tell stories and enjoy the day with your sister, brother in law, nieces, daughters and your grand kids. I’m sorry we never figured it out this summer, but this will always be one of my favorite times with you.

I was always at the Doran house in high school. We would always be having a hair day in kristys room. One time I was walking to the bathroom to get my hair washed out and I heard Kristy yell, DAD, Mary’s here. She came running into the room to tell me her dad was walking around the house in his undies. He laughed and ran upstairs to put pants on. From that moment on, he became my favorite underwear model

When I took you to treatment and you asked if you could take me to lunch. You and I just got to spend time and enjoy eachothers company. Time with you is something I definitely took for granted, so I am so grateful to have had this day with you! I love you and miss you so much Daddy ❤️

Thinking of my family during this time of sadness & loss. I have fond memories of growing up and talking to Uncle George at family events over the years. He always greeted me & made a point to chat with me. He was a wealth of knowledge about so many eclectic topics. I remember talking to him about dreams & dream journaling so many years ago. He seemed really open to the mysteries of the universe—and I thought that was pretty cool. I also remember how he showered my Aunt Ida with jewelry & love for so many years. I remember feeling they had real passion in their marriage. I know he is resting in peace and will live forever in the memories of his loved ones. Sending love & comfort to you all.

George was always so nice and never failed to make me laugh. He could be counted on when volunteers were needed at the school. The world has lost a great person. My deepest sympathy to Ida and his children. I’ll keep you in my prayers.
