Rather than dwell upon the sadness of Donnie's passing, I prefer to celebrate his life well lived as a tireless champion of everything Bristol. This is an enormous loss for the town he loved that loved him in return. Rest in peace, my friend.

I've known and looked up to you and Harry since we moved to Cleveland St and played around the neighborhood including the firehouse. Then I got to serve with both of you at the rescue squad. Bristol was a better place because of you and it will miss you. Rest in peace my friend.

Don, I lost my Mom then I lost you 7 days later…17 days later I lost my Nephew/Godson. I sure do miss those late night phone calls right now. You could make me laugh no matter how horrible I was feeling. We had some good times, we would reminisce just about every night until we were so tired we had to hang up the phone. Rest easy friend. I miss you. 💔 I will cherish the memories we made and I will always remember you. Afterall, you did bring my cousin Bob Long into this world….that was your favorite story to tell. I remember the Happy Birthday Bobby Long Billboards every year on Rt 13. They were Classic. You were the most generous man I knew. God Bless you, I know you earned your wings and you are keeping watch over all of us. 🙏🏼 Love ya. ❤️

Don Crohe, the Mayor of the Manor will be sorely missed by residents and staff alike. He left his imprint on all who visited the gift shop over the last 13 years and by his leadership as the President of Resident Council. He took the time to get to know you personally and ask about your life. He wrote the most thoughtful cards for holidays, birthdays and apologies. He was famous even here at the Manor for his "Thinking of You" cards. When we would sit together and order cards for the shop he would say we can never have enough "Thinking of You Cards". God speed Don Crohe. <3

Donnie gave me my first job selling snowcones and pretzels at special events. I then worked my way into the fifth ward snack bar and the softball field concession stand and ran them for years. Donnie and I became very close during that time. Running around with Barley Corn. He was always taking care of someone. He treated everyone the same. I love seeing all the pictures of him and how involved he stayed at the manor. Always smiling. RIP Big Boy.
