Daniel Anthony Guerriero

April 20, 1935 - August 16, 2023

Daniel Anthony Guerriero, 88, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. Surrounded by family, Daniel passed peacefully in his home in Levittown.

Daniel -- known simply as “Jasper” to most -- was a fixture in the lives of many. A proud Trentonian, Daniel spent his younger years exploring every inch of his neighborhood. His love for the city was everlasting, living in stories of the sprawling Italian American community he grew up in, the people that he met, and the wonderful food that he ate. Even when he left Trenton, he continued to cherish the mainstays of the community, from the torps at People’s Bakery, to the tomato pies at Delorenzo’s, to his gang of friends at the Joint. His love for his community extended to the racetrack, where he spent much of his time watching the horses and enjoying the company at Parx Racing.

Daniel’s fierce loyalty to his local establishments made the name “Jasper” almost ubiquitous. Jasper seemed to know everyone, and just as evidently, everyone seemed to know Jasper. His sprawling connections made it almost certain that if you needed something, Jasper “had a guy for that.” In turn, Jasper was always trading tokens of his appreciation -- fresh tomatoes, rolls, pastries and the like that moved with him in an ongoing exchange of social currency.

Daniel’s loyalty was also evident in his private life. He spent 20 years as an Iron Worker at Local 68, where he made lifelong friends. Even when work was done, Daniel looked constantly for ways to provide for his beloved family: whether it be via a Sunday dinner, gifts on Christmas Eve, or a bet at the Philly Parx OTB. Truly, Daniel was happiest when he was able to share something special with the people he loved.

Daniel’s spirit continues on in his wife Eleanor Guerriero; his children Helen Poorman and Patricia (Steve) Masceri; his grandchildren Jesse, Danielle, Justine, Samantha, Stephen, Nicole, Nicholas, Carly, Kelly, and Daniel; and his six great-grandchildren. Daniel also continues to live in memory with his late son Daniel Guerriero; his late son-in-law Warren Poorman; and his late siblings Joseph, Lena, Phyllis, Rosemarie, and Michael.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with his family on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 10:00am-12:00 Noon at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough. A time to share memories will follow at 12:00 Noon.
