Catherine M. Hinton-Barner

July 24, 1931 — October 18, 2024

Catherine M. Hinton-Barner passed away peacefully at Elan Manatee in Bradenton, Florida, on October 18, 2024. Catherine graduated from Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing in Pottsville, PA, and received her master's degree in nursing from Villanova University. She worked at Eastern State School and Hospital in Trevose, PA, as a psychiatric nurse and also provided in-service instruction during her many years of service from the 1970’s till her retirement in 1996. Catherine was very active in her church at St. Mark Parish in Bristol, PA. She enjoyed her years of singing in their choir.

Catherine and her first husband, John T. Hinton, Sr. lived in Bristol, PA, for several years. She was widowed in 1989. She spent many years enjoying her family and traveling and on August 8, 2008, she married her second husband, Jerry M. Barner, who she met through St. Mark Church. They moved to Bradenton, FL in 2011 to be closer to family!

She and Jerry were active members of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Lakewood Ranch, FL. They were also active in the Elks in Lakewood Ranch. They moved into Cypress Springs Independent Living Facility after selling their home in Lakewood Ranch and then in December of 2022 they moved into Elan Manatee assisted living. Jerry passed away in January 2024 and Catherine remained there until her passing.

Catherine is predeceased by her one sister and 5 brothers. She is survived by her son, John T. Hinton III (Leslie), Parrish, FL, and son, Joseph A. Hinton. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, John T. Hinton IV of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Scott W. Hinton (Emily) of Broomfield, CO, and Taryn Hinton of Bradenton, FL.

Grandma Kosh will always be remembered as a loving grandma who would do anything for her grandchildren! Summers at her trailer in Bass River State Forest, NJ, will always be one of the best memories!

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Graveside Service on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, 11am at St. Mark Cemetery, Bristol Pike, Bristol Township, PA.
