Carol Marie Kelly Wallick
Carol Marie Kelly Wallick was born December 24, 1940, and was 1 of 9 children born to Catherine Costigan and John Joseph Kelly. Her father passed in August 1947 when Carol was 6 years old. His absence initiated a period of struggle and poverty that helped shape her into a tenacious yet spiritual person.
Carol married Eugene T. Wallick, Sr. (Pop-Pop, Big Gene, Daddy Warbucks) in 1958 and over the course of the next 23 years they had nine children of their own. She was pre-deceased by her beloved daughter Susan Ann Wallick Rardin who died in 2000, and is survived by her other children: Eugene (Diane and their children, Jessica, Carly, Kaitlin, & Matthew), Joseph (his children, Stephen, Lauren, Nicholas, Lucas, Noelle), Mary Catherine (Edward Abel and their children, Edward Jr, Michael, Thomas, Caitlin and Brianna), James, Beth Ann (Andrew White and their children, Meghan, Andrew Jr. and Gloria Lynn), Christopher (Melissa and their children, Jonah, Joshua, Crystal, Caroline, Virginia), Michael (Sarah and their children, Michael, Madison, Vienna and Kaiya), Susan’s daughter, Bailie Marie Rardin Dickson and Matthew (his daughter, Stella Grace).
It is a well known fact how important her children were to her as she always referred to them as “my Gene, my Joseph, etc.”. She is also survived by her sister, Joan Reis and her husband, Ellwood of Louisiana, boatloads of great-grandchildren (20), &hordes of nieces, nephews, cousins& friends. She learned to use modern technology of FaceTime and video calling to connect with her loved ones spread out all over the United States. She loved talking to her Stella Grace Wallick (who made her laugh) & watching the antics of Luca & Amelia learning to walk. She was looking forward to meeting all her new great-grandchildren born in the last year: Luca Caldur White, Amelia Marie Dickson, Freya Lynn Wallick and the latest great-grandchild born 9 days ago, Nolan Gray Ewell.
Through the years, Carol had told many stories of her childhood and early married life, the toils of living next to the family-owned tire business, and the gradual decline of the neighborhood she called home all while raising nine children. Although this seemingly hardened her and gave her a “no nonsense” attitude Carol showed her soft side as she cared for her elderly Mother-in-Law, opened her home to her ailing cousin Teddy and helped raise her granddaughter, Bailie Marie.
Carol had an interesting take on politics and stayed informed. She was always willing to debate her cousin Teddy on various political topics and even coined the phrase, “Ted, you’d vote for Mickey Mouse just because he was running as a Democrat!”
Carol was a prankster. She loved popping out of closets, underneath beds, behind couches, to startle her children. She was equally amused when the tide was turned. The Gargoyle (Matthew) that loomed in the hallway atop her LOVED clothes hamper waiting to jump out unexpectedly resulted in her screaming while her wicker hamper was destroyed. The hamper couldn’t hold under the weight of the Gargoyle.
Even with her unwavering opinions and her unfiltered commentary, she had many conversations with all her children and most grandchildren up until her passing.
As she is now in eternal peace in the Lord’s loving and omniscient fold, Carol will also finally know the answer to the question that has plagued this family for generations: Who ate the orange?
Per her wishes there will be a graveside service where she will be laid to eternal rest next to her lifelong love and soul mate, Gene on Friday, January 22, 2021, 10am at St. Mark Cemetery, Bristol, PA. Arrangements are under the direction of Wade Funeral Home, Bristol Borough.
