Bernice Wade

Bernice Wade passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at her home in Edgely. She was 98 years old. Bernice was born in Trenton, New Jersey to the late Frank and Jesse (nee Pizzullo) Bechter. She was raised in Bristol, where she graduated from Bristol High School on June 6, 1944. After graduation, she met and married her husband, John "Luke" Wade, on September 20, 1947 and they soon purchased their new home in Edgely, where she resided for the past 71 years. Bernice was a member of St. Mark Church and a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court St. Mark, where she served as a Regent. She enjoyed hosting family picnics around the pool, cooking Sunday dinners for her family, and loved traveling with her husband and friends. She was also a member of the Seasoned Travelers and St. Thomas Aquinas Senior Citizens Club. Bernice also looked forward to her Monday evening "Stitch & Bitch" Club, with her good friends, Martha, Ann, and Dot.
Predeceased by her husband, John "Luke" Wade, her son, Steven Wade, and her daughter, Patricia Melling; she is survived by her loving children, John Wade, and his wife, Barbara, Maribeth Henry, and her husband Paul, Michael Wade, and his wife, Kathleen, and Mark Wade, and his wife Michele; her daughter-in-law, Cyndi Wade; and her son-in-law, Robert "Mel" Melling.
She was a devoted grandmother to 15 grandchildren, Colleen Lecco, and her husband, Mike, Jacki Murphy, and her husband, Sean, Jenna Bedekovich, and her husband, Jeff, John Wade, and his wife, Amanda, Robert Melling, and his wife, Jennifer, Erin Melling, Ryan Henry and his fiancée, Lisa, Beth McDonald, and her husband, Mike, Steven Wade, Eric Wade, and his wife, Elizabeth, Stephen Wade, and his wife, Ashley, Maura Sanko, and her husband, Doug, Michele DeLisa, and her husband, Mike, Julia Wade, and Luke Wade, and his fiancé, Andrew. She will also be sadly missed by her 20 great-grandchildren, who brought her much joy, Emilie, Maggie, and Joseph Murphy, Maddie Lecco, Jack Bedekovich, John and Conor Wade, Robert and Mila Melling, Harper and Lena Henry, Grace McDonald, Stephen, Mason, and Weston Wade, Isla, Siobhan, and Mairead Sanko, and Adelia and Luciano DeLisa.
She is also survived by her sister, Arlene Goulding, and her husband, Richard, along with many nieces and nephews. Bernice was also predeceased by her sisters, Evelyn Bechter and Anne Marie Argust, and her brother, Frank Bechter.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, 11am at St. Mark Church, Bristol Borough. Interment, St. Mark Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday evening from 6-8:00pm and on Tuesday morning from 9:30-10:30am at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough. Donations in Bernice's honor may be made to St. Mark Parish, 1025 Radcliffe Street, Bristol, PA 19007.
