William “Bill” A. Hilbert, Sr.

Bill Hilbert Sr, 84, of Fairless Hills, passed away at home on January 2, 2015 with his family by his side.

He was born to the late Joseph and Margaret Hilbert, September 12, 1930, in Philadelphia, PA. Bill married the late Theresa “Kerns” Hilbert in 1951, his bride for over 61 years.

Bill is a Korean War Veteran and retired US Navy Chief, which he proudly served for 1 day, 5 months and 33 years. Bill denied ever being a hero, but the family disagreed as they viewed his medals and the squadron patch he received from the pilot whose life he saved when he pulled him from his crashed fighter plane. In addition to his Navy career, he was a champion roller figure skater, participated in the roller derby and is retired from Jade Corporation.

Predeceased by his loving wife Theresa B. Hilbert, brother Steven, sister Peggy, sister Joanne, and granddaughters Crystal Gardner and Brittany Pfaff. Bill is survived by four children: Kathy Adams and her husband, Tom, William Hilbert Jr. and his wife, Denise, Patricia Riley and her husband, Richard, and Timothy Hilbert and his wife, Tracy; three siblings: Russell Hilbert and his wife, Karen, Ronald Hilbert and his wife, Cathy and Renee Combs. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Bill was a long-time bowler and exercised regularly into his 70‘s. He will be greatly missed and remembered by many as a pillar of strength, a loving husband and father and a proud American.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 325 South Oxford Valley Road, Fairless Hills, PA. 19030. Interment will be held in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, NJ. Friends may call Tuesday evening 7-9:00pm at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Str., Bristol Borough and Wednesday morning 8:30-9:15am at the Church. In lieu of flowers , donations can be made to St Frances Cabrini Church, at the above address .
