Raymond J. Gallagher, Jr.

Raymond J. Gallagher, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Lower Bucks Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was 85. Born December 25, 1930, in Bristol, son of the late Raymond, Sr. and Kathleen Gallagher, he was a Bensalem resident for the past 48 years. Ray attended St. Mark Elementary School and graduated from Trenton Catholic Boys H.S. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a 3rd Class Petty Officer aboard the USS Barton during the Korean War, which was hit by a mine, and several shipmates were lost. Ray retired from the Bucks County Redevelopment Authority, where he helped many people who were in need. In retirement, he enjoyed caring for his grandchildren, spending time in Atlantic City and at the racetrack. Ray was a longtime active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, where he volunteered as an usher and chairman of the Activities Committee.

Husband of the late Loretta Daniels Gallagher, he is survived by his 2 sons, Raymond Gallagher, III and Kevin Gallagher and his wife, Peggy, all of Bensalem, 6 grandchildren; Kellieanne, Megan, Sean, Raymond IV, Patrick, and Brigid and 2 great-grandchildren; Alaina and MiaRay He is also survived by 1 sister, Blanche Brady and 1 brother, William Gallagher and his wife, Lynda along with several nieces and nephews. Ray was also predeceased by 1 brother; James Gallagher and 2 sisters, Maryjane Hermann and Joann Pagliei.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, 9-10:45am at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough followed by his Funeral Mass, 11:00am at St. Mark Church. Interment, St. Mark Cemetery.
