Nellie Lyczak (nee Panek), a longtime resident of Bristol Borough, died peacefully at Friends Nursing Home at Chandler Hall in Newtown, Pennsylvania, on Monday, May 30, 2016. She was 96.
Born in Passaic, New Jersey, Nellie was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Panek. She was the devoted and beloved wife of Raymond until his death in 1990. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Teresa Cochran as well as her sister, Lottie Bleakney. Nellie is survived by her children, Gloria Snyder of Yardley and Ronald Lyczak of Medford, NJ, her seven grandchildren and her fourteen great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
Nellie was the proprietor of her own hair dressing business in Bristol Borough for many years. She was a life-long communicant of St Mark Church, where she shared in many happy times with the “Monday Morning Counters”. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters for 65 years, the Sodality, the Golden Marks, and the Red Hat Society. Nellie especially enjoyed spending hours playing Scrabble and Rummy with her grandkids and entertaining family and friends at her beautiful home on Taft Street.
Calling hours will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday morning, June 4, 2016 at St. Mark Church in Bristol followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Interment will be held immediately after the mass at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Church, 1025 Radcliffe Street, Bristol, PA 19007. Arrangements are under the direction of Wade Funeral Home, Bristol Borough.
