Nancie-Lou Myers Dent

Nancie M. Dent of Morrisville transitioned peacefully from this life on July 31, 2016 at ManorCare Nursing Center, Yardley, PA.

Nancie was born in Carlisle, PA, the first child of the Reverend Lewis H. and Inez V. Myers. She graduated from Chambersburg Area Sr. High School in 1961. She enrolled in Morgan State University that fall. While in school, she married Anthony Dent.

After moving to Pittsburgh, PA, Nancie finished her undergraduate degree at the University of Pittsburgh and later earned a Master's degree.

In 1993, Nancie became the CEO of the Trenton, NJ YMCA, becoming the first African American woman CEO of a YMCA in the US. She resigned in 2000 to return to her national service roots by becoming the NJ Director of the Education Works program.

She was active in her church - Westminster Presbyterian, Trenton, NJ. She loved all things Pittsburgh Steelers and Duke Blue Devils basketball.

She is survived by two brothers - Lewis H. and David A. Myers, her three children - Antoinette "Toni" Galloway, Robert and Christopher Dent; and four grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Saturday, August 6, 2016, 10:00am at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1140 Greenwood Avenue, Trenton, NJ. Her ashes will be interred in Chambersburg, Pa. Arrangements are under the direction of Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough.
