Marjorie Ruth (Griffen) Ritts

Marjorie Ruth Griffen Ritts passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Pine Run Health Center in Doylestown. She was 88.  Born in Jamaica, New York, Marjorie was the daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine (nee Depuy) Griffen. She was raised in Brooklyn, NY by her aunt and uncle, Percy and Nettie Griffen, after the death of her parents at a young age.   She married in 1948 and lived as a resident in both the Philadelphia and Bucks County areas for many years.

She received her teaching degree at Temple University and then a Masters of Education at Trenton State College.  Marjorie was a retired school teacher with the Philadelphia School District and afterwards taught at Holy Family University, teaching adults to become teachers.  She was active throughout her life in several churches where she taught Sunday school. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, swimming, and was a volunteer tutor at various homeless shelters.

One of her greatest joys in life was hosting her annual Christmas Eve gathering for her ever-expanding family and friends.

She is survived by her 3 daughters: Marcia Ellen Bosack and her husband, Thomas, Lorraine Skala and her husband Jim, and Linda Ritts.  She was most proud of her grandchildren, 13 in all, 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son John Warren Ritts, her sister Winifred Schutte, and her brother Howard Griffen.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Gathering on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, at which time there will be a sharing of memories at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough.  Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Spinal Association, 12034 Queens Blvd, Suite 320, Kew Gardens, NY 11415, the Lewy Body Dementia Association,, or a charity of your choice.
