Kathleen O'Connor Coughlin
Kathleen O'Connor Coughlin of Bristol passed away peacefully on Friday, October 5, at the age of 90 years, surrounded by her loving family.
From her birth in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 19, 1928 to her death, Kathleen nourished the people around her with love, faith, and laughter. Born and raised in Philadelphia (Juniata Park), she graduated from Little Flower High School in 1945. In 1972, she returned to school and graduated from Bucks County Community College with a 4.0 GPA.
Professionally, Kathleen nourished others too with her commitment to serve as a Case Worker with the Pennsylvania Board of Assistance. She retired from the State of Pennsylvania in1990 but continued to devote herself to others into her late 80’s with her work at the St. Francis Community Center on Long Beach Island, St. Mary’s Cupboard in Levittown, and the Falls Township Senior Center.
Kathleen married her true love, John Coughlin, on October 8, 1949. Together with John, Kathleen had seven devoted children. Her large family was truly her passion and delight. Her willingness to love and give was infinite. She made every person feel important and unique. With each new addition to the family, the love just grew. She never missed a ball game, recital, graduation, or birthday party. Kathleen believed that “the more the merrier.” Her home in Rockdale was always open to the neighborhood kids.
She loved to travel locally, domestically and internationally with her family. When she was not traveling, or with her family, she loved quiet mornings sitting on her deck overlooking the lake in Manahawkin.
