John J. Coles

John J. Coles passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016 at his home in Levittown. He was 74. Born in Bristol, son of the late Robert and Agnes Dougherty Coles, he has been a Levittown resident for the past 40 years. Mr. Coles was a Bishop Egan High School graduate, Class of 1960, where he lettered in football, baseball and basketball. He retired from the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier after 43 years of service. After retirement, he worked as a driver for the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart. Mr. Coles loved all sports, but most especially Notre Dame football and the Phillies. He was also an umpire for many different softball leagues. He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage.

Mr. Coles is survived by his beloved wife; Judi Coles, his children; Amy Coles, Cheryl Daniels and her husband, Mark, Matthew Coles, Darleen Calahan and her husband, Mike, and his grandchildren; Wendy Daniels, Luke Daniels, and Lena Calahan. He is also survived by 1 sister-in-law, Patricia Obara Coles along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 brothers; Robert, James, and George Coles and 3 sisters; Dorothy Steinbrunn, Agnes Rodgers and Kathleen Goodnow.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Saturday, July 9, 2016, 10:00am at St. Mark Church, Bristol Borough. Interment, Our Lady of Grace Cemetery. Friends may call Friday evening 7-9:00pm and Saturday morning 9-9:45 am at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough.
