Harriet Womack

Harriet Womack, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died May 10, 2015 on her 69th Mother’s Day. She was 95 years old. Her children: Grant (Bud) Womack, Jeri Balent, and Debbie Sweigard were with her as her life ended.

Born in New York, Harriet and her husband, Grant, moved to Levittown in 1955 to fulfill their dreams of raising their children in their own home in the Pennsylvania countryside. Grant worked at United States Steel, Fairless Works, and Harriet became a full time homemaker, perfecting the art of raising children, making cherry cheesecakes and baking apple pies. The Womack’s were great dancers and enjoyed their Friday nights at Elks Club and playing cards with their friends. But the heart of Harriet’s life was always her family.

Grant and Harriet retired to Barefoot Bay Florida in 1980 where she continued to reside after Grant’s death in 1984. Most recently Harriet had been a resident at Crestview Center in Langhorne, PA.

In addition to her children; Grant, Jeri, and Debbie, Harriet is survived by her brother, Albert Mark, her son-in-law, Fred Sweigard, nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Harriet often said “If you can put your head on the pillow at night and know you have done the best you could, you will sleep well”. Sleep well Harriet, We will miss you.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service, Saturday, May 23 at Crossing Community Church, 80 Silver Lake Rd., Newtown, PA 18940. Reception with family will begin at 6:30pm and Service at 7pm. Light refreshments will follow. In lieu of flowers donations should be sent to a charity of your choice in memory of Harriet Womack.
