Obituary

Eugene "Gene"  R. Kelty

Gene R. Kelty passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital.  He was 87.  Born in Trenton, NJ, son of the late George Augustus Kelty and Evelyn Sweeny, he was a Yardley resident for many years, where he resided with his black lab, Kelly.  He was a graduate of Trenton High School and received his Real Estate License from Ryder College.    Gene was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War.  He was a corporal specialized technician and performed duties as a Medic, VIP Officer Driver and Sharpshooter.   He received numerous medals including The Korean Service Medal, 2 Bronze Stars, The United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation.   Gene started working in the temporary help business, for companies like Manpower and Kelly Girl in  Trenton, NJ.  He quickly moved up to become a top sales producer of American Girl, Philadelphia.  He then went back to New Jersey for Western Temporaries.  Eventually he became owner of his own business, Action Temps in New Jersey, later buying out Western Temporaries.  Gene had six branch offices spread throughout New Jersey.  He then sold the business and returned to Bucks County to retire in Yardley, Pa.  He was an avid reader, owning at least 1,000 books and loved to read History, Travel, Genealogy, War, Self-Help, Self-Improvement and Nautical books.  He was a member of Toastmasters Speaking Group, Hideaways Travel Island Club, Exchange Club and a graduate of Arthur Murray Dance School.  Gene enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay, Baltimore, MD and New Jersey.   He was also fond of and frequently traveled the Caribbean Islands.   He was a positive thinker with big ideas and a creative mind.  Loved the family get togethers, parties, holidays, with good food and good cheer. 

He is survived by 2 daughters, Kathy Champ and Karen Hackett and 2 grandchildren, Cameron Champ and Christian Hackett.  

Relatives and friends are invited to call at 11:00am with a Memorial Service at 1:00pm at the  Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough.  Interment will take place at 2:30pm at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, Pa.    At the family's request, please do not send flowers.  There will be a donation box at the Funeral Home for Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease.
