Edward Girard Jenkins
Edward Girard Jenkins, 84, of Drexel Hill, formerly of Bristol Borough, died peacefully at home on Saturday, May 13th, surrounded by family.
Born on January 28, 1933 in Houtzdale, Pa, Mr. Jenkins resided in the Lower Bucks County area for more than sixty years. He was the owner and operator of Hollywood Barbershop for fifty-one years. He was a devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and more recently of Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church. He was a volunteer fireman of the America Hose, Hook and Ladder Co. #2 for forty-eight years, and also served the Borough as an auxiliary policeman for many years.
Mr. Jenkins received the honors of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus in 1981. He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge No. 1169 of Bristol and earned the Pilgrim Degree of Merit for his many years of service in 1994. He was also a lifetime member of the Fairless Hills Elks Lodge #2023, and served on the Bristol Borough Shade Tree Commission. In 2004, Mr. Jenkins was honored by the Bristol Borough Council for his many contributions and years of service to his community.
On October 8, 1960 he married the love of his life, Margaret Pruzinsky, who joined him in heaven just four days after his passing.
Son of the late Ralph Eugene and Ruth (Custer) Jenkins, he is also predeceased by his brothers Jackie, Robert and Donald and his sister Jean Timoney. Mr. Jenkins is survived by his beloved daughter Suzanne Jenkins Levy and his adored grandson Christopher, of Drexel Hill. He is also survived by his sister Doris (the late Chester) Reed of White Horse and his brother James (Harriet) of Levittown, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may pay their respects Tuesday evening 6-9 at Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough. A Parastas Service will be conducted by the Rev. Theodore Z. Mozes at 8 p.m. There will also be visitation hours on Wednesday from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service 10:30am at Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 1314 Randall Avenue, Levittown. Interment at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery will follow.
