David Kilgallon

On Wednesday December 2nd, 2015, David Kilgallon died peacefully in his home in Bristol, PA due to complications of bone marrow failure. David was 75 years old and had family at his side at the time of his passing.

He is survived by his children David Kilgallon, and Andrea Morris, both of Bristol, Wendy and John Marziano of Orlando, FL, and Sherry Caporale of Atlanta, GA; his grandchildren David, Christopher, Nicholas and Patrick Kilgallon; and Leighann, James, and Katie Morris, all of Bristol, PA. He is also survived by his sister, Katherine Lemos of Bensalem, Pa and by his long time partner Barbara Zirnhelt of Wilkes-Barre, PA.

David is preceded in death by his parents David and Lillian Kilgallon and second wife Nancy Caporale.
He was born on July 16, 1940 in Union Township, Luzerne County, PA. Throughout his life, David had the opportunity to call Bristol, PA, Orlando, FL, Paupack, PA and Wilkes-Barre, PA home and had friends and family in each. He graduated from Bristol High School with the class of 1958.

David proudly served his country as a military intelligence specialist during the Vietnam conflict between 1960 and 1963. Additionally, he was employed by and retired from US Steel Corporation at the Fairless Hills installation after more than 30 years.

Fondly known as “Poppop” to many Bristol residents, David still holds the record for being listed as the emergency contact for more borough students than any other person.
Yard sale enthusiasts are mourning the loss of David, both as a buyer and a seller. Everything had value, a future purpose or a place in the family garage much to the dismay of his daughter. David enjoyed story swapping, gun sales, tool shopping but not drinking coffee! He took every opportunity to get to know people; no interaction was insignificant and each was deserving of a “story”.

An avid reader of the obituaries, he will sadly miss our most important posting. David was loved by many, respected by his family and friends and known to many who will miss his company. The phrases “You know what you should do…”, “I can get good money for that…” and “I know I put it right there…” will no longer hold the significance they once did.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Monday, December 7, 2015, 11:00am at St. Mark Church, Bristol Borough. Interment, St. Mark Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday evening 7-9:00pm and Monday morning 10-10:45am at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe Street, Bristol Borough.
