Charles E. Weik, Sr.
Charles E. “Chick” Weik passed away on July 17,2017 at Chandler Hall Hospice. He was 94 years old. Born on June 13,1923 to Charles and Mary (Flanagan) Weik, he was a lifelong Bristol Borough resident until moving to his daughter Barbara’s home in Langhorne in his later years. Chick attended St. Mark school, and graduated from North Catholic High School in Philadelphia. He met his wife, Rita (McHugh), also from Bristol, and was married at St. Mark Church on May 3,1947. They were married for 49 years until her passing in 1996.
Chick was a WWII veteran, having served in the US Navy as a second electricians mate on the USS Luzon, a repair ship servicing the Pacific fleet. He worked at Rohm & Haas in Bristol as an instrument mechanic for over 40 years, until his retirement. Charles was a lifelong member of St. Mark Church in Bristol and was an active volunteer in various parish activities for many decades. He was also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Michael Dougherty Division 1, Bristol chapter for most of his life, along with many of his Corson St. friends and neighbors.
A man of few words, Chick was happiest when working on one of his many projects and surrounded by sawdust. He was a skilled carpenter, electrician and mechanic and could fix just about anything. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. His faith, family and friends were the foundation of his long life. Chick was a loyal Notre Dame football fan, as well as a Phillies and Eagles fan.
Charles is survived by his loving children: Reverend Terence Weik, Visitation BVM parish in Norristown, Barbara Moore and her husband Jim of Langhorne, Susan Bartle and her husband Dan of Levittown, Marianne Horton and her husband Tom of Morrisville, and his daughter-in-law Sally Weik of Bristol.
