Albertus Gilbert passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, his 97th birthday, at Oaks of Bensalem, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Burlington, N.J., he was a Bristol and Levittown resident most of his life, moving to Manahawkin, N.J., in 1987.
He was a graduate of Bristol High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Gilbert was employed as a lab technician at Rohm & Haas, Bristol, for many years and after retirement, worked as a salesman at McCafferty Ford, Langhorne.
He was a member of Levittown Fire Co. No. 1, where he served as president for 10 years. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his love of fishing, and the casinos, but most especially will be remembered as a loving family man.
Husband of the late Shirley (Brace) Gilbert, he is survived by his children, Diane Vandegrift, and Warren Gilbert and his wife, Janice; his grandchildren, Mindy Lacey and her husband, Jim, and Lori Scott and her husband, Chris; his great-grandchildren, Allie Brown (John), Shane Scott (Jessica) and Julia, Brittany, Emma and Tory Lacey; and his great-great grandson, Jack Brown. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward, and his sister, Dorothy.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects to the family from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe St., Bristol Borough, followed by his service at 2:30 p.m.
